The Chicago Bears have suffered some critical injuries in recent weeks and they've lost three straight games, falling out of the current NFC playoff picture in the process. In Pro Football Talk's Week 15 power rankings, the Bears check in at No. 18:
18. Bears (No. 17; 7-6): When Brian Urlacher said that Tim Tebow is a good running back, Urlacher should have added that Caleb Hanie is a [bad] quarterback.
Sunday's loss to Denver in overtime was heartbreaking for the team, but all is not lost. At 7-6, they need help to reach the playoffs, but they are only a game behind the two teams currently holding the Wildcard spots.

The Chicago Bears (7-5) are struggling. ESPN says the Bears are No. 17. CBS says they are No. 15, but at the bottom of the NFC Wildcard Race. SB Nation's own Joel Thorman also slots the Bears in at No. 15.
Add another voice to that growing chant: Sports Illustrated's Peter King is also selling on the Bears:
15. Chicago (7-6). The Bears have a path to the playoffs, but it would be best if Caleb Hanie drove the bus there instead of playing quarterback.
Last Sunday against the Denver Broncos (8-5), the Bears' backup quarterback Caleb Hanie threw for 115 yards with 12 completions on 19 attempts, and though he tossed no interceptions, four out of four NFL Power Rankings finger Hanie as a culprit in the Bears' descent into ignominy.

It isn't a great spot to be in, as they sit behind fellow NFC Wildcard hopefuls like the No. 14 Dallas Cowboys, No. 12 New York Giants, No. 11 Detroit Lions and No. 8 Atlanta Falcons. Here is what John Clayton had to say about the Bears:
So there it is, the Bears are at the point where people think they might lose to the Seahawks at home.

The Chicago Bears lost again in Week 14, but the Detroit Lions and the Atlanta Falcons didn't do them the favor of keeping pace with their recent ineptitude. A drop in the power rankings for the Bears makes perfect sense. In CBS Sports' power rankings, Pete Prisco held the Bears at No. 15 overall.
Here's what he had to say about the Bears after their loss to Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos:
No Jay Cutler. No Matt Forte. No playoffs. They are reeling right now. They just don't do enough on offense.
As for the rest of the NFC Wildcard field, this is how the rankings shook out for that field. Interesting to see the Bears so far down below their competition, but it all makes sense when you look at the standings.
