Week 12 NFL Power Rankings: ESPN Knocks Chicago Bears Down To No. 7

The five-writer panel over at ESPN has released its NFL Week 12 Power Rankings list,  and the Chicago Bears have moved down two spots from last week, to No. 7 overall. The move still puts the Bears at fourth-best in the NFC, and the bump down likely had little to do with how the team performed on the field on Sunday, as John Clayton explains:

7 Bears 7-3 Jay Cutler's broken thumb could break the Bears' wild-card chances. (Clayton)

Here's the rest of the NFC North:

Packers 10-0 If the Packers beat the Lions, they will go into the final two weeks of the regular season unbeaten. (Clayton)

10  Lions 7-3 Matthew Stafford might not win comeback player of the year, but he's sure great at comebacks. (Clayton)

29 Vikings 2-8 There is no way Adrian Peterson is going to play this week with a first-degree high-ankle sprain. (Clayton)

Week 12 NFL Power Rankings: CBS Sports Bumps Chicago Bears To No. 8

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has released his Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, and the Chicago Bears have actually moved up a spot to No. 8. The move places them as the fourth-best team in the NFC, above the No. 9 Detroit Lions, No. 10 Atlanta Falcons, No. 11 Dallas Cowboys and the No. 12 New York Giants.

Prisco seems a bit conflicted regarding the Bears at the moment, considering he had this to say after moving the team into a higher ranking:

Without Cutler, they have major issues. Their season suddenly took a huge turn for the worse with one thumb injury.

Here are the best and worst in the league according to Prisco:

Top Five

1. Green Bay Packers
2. San Francisco 49ers
3. Houston Texans
4. Baltimore Ravens
5. Pittsburgh Steelers

Bottom Five

28. Minnesota Vikings
29. Jacksonville Jaguars
30. Arizona Cardinals
31. St. Louis Rams
32. Indianapolis Colts

Week 12 NFL Power Rankings: Chicago Bears Remain At No. 8

As the NFL Power Rankings are released, most fans are likely wondering whether NFL experts will focus on how the Chicago Bears dismantled the San Diego Chargers 31-20 on Sunday afternoon to earn their fifth straight win, or will they become disenchanted with the team because starting QB Jay Cutler will miss six to eight weeks with a broken thumb? SB Nation Chicago has the answers.

SB Nation's Joel Thorman has released his Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, and the Chicago Bears have managed to hold their spot at No. 8 overall. Thorman isn't completely writing the Bears off either:

8. Chicago Bears (7-3, LW: 8): The Bears defense should do enough to carry them to a playoff spot but they need a healthy Jay Cutler back if they're going to make a playoff run. That may not come until January.

Here are the top and bottom five teams in the NFL, according to SB Nation's rankings:

Top Five Teams

1. Green Bay Packers (10-0, LW: 1)

2. San Francisco 49ers (9-1, LW: 2)

3. Baltimore Ravens (7-3, LW: 5)

4. New Orleans Saints (7-3, LW: 3)

5. Houston Texans (7-3, LW: 4)

Bottom Five Teams

28. Arizona Cardinals (3-7, LW: 25)

29. Carolina Panthers (2-8, LW: 28)

30. St. Louis Rams (2-8, LW: 29)

31. Minnesota Vikings (2-8, LW: 30)

32. Indianapolis Colts (0-10, LW: 32)

Will the experts from around the web see it the same way? SB Nation Chicago will have updates on the Power Rankings from around the web as they are released throughout the day. NFL Power Rankings, Week 12: Where Will The Chicago Bears Rank Without Jay Cutler?
