The No. 3-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's hockey team will rest this weekend before their blockbuster matchup against No. 1 Minnesota on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's hockey team has ascended to the No. 3 spot in the USCHO.com poll, but they will be put to the test on Tuesday night in Minneapolis when they take on the red-hot Minnesota Golden Gophers in a marquee college hockey matchup.

No. 3 Notre Dame (14-4-0) has built up a 5-1-0 road record this season, but their four-game winning streak will be on the line when No. 1 Minnesota takes the ice on Tuesday. The Gophers jumped from No. 4 to No. 1 on the latest poll after knocking off then-No. 1 Boston College to claim the Mariucci Classic title. Minnesota is 8-1-1 at home this season, to Notre Dame will need to be sharp if they want to pull off the upset.
