The Tour Championship 2012: Jim Furyk Takes Lead In Day Two

Stay connected for news and updates

With the best round of the tournament so far, by two strokes, Jim Furyk surged up the leaderboard at The Tour Championship to assume the lead.

Furyk passed 11 golfers on the leaderboard thanks to birdies on seven of the course's first 10 holes. While he also hit three bogeys in the back nine, birdies on holes 15 and 17 helped to counteract those and kept him to the best score of the day.

Tiger Woods entered the day with a share of the tournament lead, but fell to No. 12 thanks to the third-worst performance of the day, including a double bogey on No. 8.

Luke Donald, an alumni of Northwestern University, and Steve Stricker, an alumni of the University of Illinois, are tied for the No. 16 spot on the leaderboard, each playing at par through two rounds.
