Notre Dame is in talks to play a football game against UConn at Fenway Park in 2014

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish may be headed to Fenway Park in 2014 to play a football game against the Connecticut Huskies according to a Boston Globe report. In March, Boston Red Sox officials said they were looking to bring a high-profile college football game to Fenway and Notre Dame and UConn appear to be the current targets.

It is still in the early stages of planning but Notre Dame may consider shifting a home game to Boston and UConn, located only 85 miles from Boston, likes the idea. The last football game to take place at Fenway was a Dec. 1, 1968 NFL game in which the Boston Patriots defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 33-14.

Fenway has recently hosted soccer friendlies and the 2010 NHL Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers. Other MLB ballparks have hosted college football games recently. Wrigley Field hosted a game between Northwestern and Illinois in 2010 and Notre Dame traveled to Yankee Stadium on Nov. 20, 2010 to take on the Army Black Knights.
