MLB Standings: White Sox Hold One-Game Lead In AL Central

Stay connected for news and updates

Looking to return to the postseason in 2012, the Chicago White Sox hold a one-game lead over the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central standings entering Sunday's action. With just a few weeks left in the season, the Sox are hoping to hold off a surging Detroit team that's won four straight games.

On Sunday, both teams are playing on the road against divisional foes. The White Sox have Jake Peavy taking the mound against the Minnesota Twins, while the Tigers have Rick Porcello facing the Cleveland Indians and a struggling Ubaldo Jimenez.

The White Sox and Tigers only have one game remaining against one another this season, a make-up game on Monday at U.S. Cellular Field. After that game, Chicago finishes the season with three games against the Angels, three games against the Royals, three games against the Rays and six games against the Indians.
