London 2012 Olympics: Luol Deng Eliminated From Basketball Tournament

Stay connected for news and updates

Chicago Bulls SF Luol Deng led the Great Britain basketball team with 36 minutes and 2 steals, but scored only 9 points as G Patrick Mills scored an Olympics-high 39 points and led Australia to a 106-75 final over Britain. The loss drops the British team from the 2012 London Olympics.

Australia out-shot the British on two-pointers, three-pointers and free throws. The Brits did manage an 11-0 run on the Australian defense and took a 10-point lead into halftime, but Australia opened a massive lead in the second half to win up by 31.

Deng, a captain for the Great Britain basketball team and a starter for the Bulls, fled to England from Sudan as a youth. He delayed off-season surgery in order to play with the British team.
