Notre Dame Fighting Irish radio announcer Allen Pinkett has been suspended from the Fighting Irish radio broadcast team for Notre Dame's season opener in Ireland against Navy.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish radio announcer Allen Pinkett has been suspended from the Fighting Irish radio broadcast team for Notre Dame's season opener in Ireland against Navy. Pinkett, a former Notre Dame All-American and NFL running back, slipped up earlier in the week during a radio interview on 670 The Score when he tried to argue that team needs more 'bad citizens" on its roster if the program actually wants to compete at a high level.

Those comments predictably did not sit well with the Notre Dame IMG Network, and news of Pinkett's suspension emerged on Thursday. The announcer tried to apologize on Wednesday, but school officials worked quickly to refute his comments. It's unclear if Pinkett will return to call games on the radio after he serves his suspension for Saturday's game.
