The Chicago Cubs open a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies on Friday afternoon.
The Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies are out of the playoff race and busy trying to develop talent for the future, so nearly everything at this point is process-oriented, rather than result-oriented. Tyler Colvin has been playing well for the Cubs recently, while Rockies fans are still waiting on young pitcher Drew Pomeranz to flash some of his big potential.
On Friday afternoon, the Cubs will send Jeff Samardzija (8-11, 4.17 ERA) to the mound, and the Rockies will counter with Pomeranz (1-7, 4.87 ERA). Here is a look at the game time and TV schedule for the series opener on Friday:
Game date/time: Friday, August 24, 1:20 p.m. CT
Location: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois
TV: WGN
