Derrick Rose Injury: Bulls PG Says He's 'Two Or Three Weeks Ahead' Of Schedule

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose continues to work his way back from a torn ACL suffered in April, and progress appears to be going well. Recently, Rose told Comcast Sports Net that his recovery is currently two or three weeks ahead of schedule.

In the interview, which was done last month, Rose appears to be optimistic. ESPN Chicago has the quotes:

[I'm just] taking my time. I'm definitely two or three weeks ahead of where I'm supposed to be, but that still (doesn't) help the part healing-wise. I've still got to take that time off for my leg to heal. Of course, strength-wise it's getting better every day, but scar tissue still has to heal, getting used to me just laying on my knees. Knee's still numb in some areas. Hopefully I'll get over that, but the doctor says I'll forget about it when the season goes on, so I should be all right.

Rose's surgeon, Brian Cole, has said that the point guard's recovery would take 8-to-12 months, and Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf insisted recently that he wouldn't make Rose return unless the guard is 100 percent healthy. Even so, he appears to be recovering well, leaving hope that he can be a significant part of the Bulls for the 2012-13 season.
