Paul Konerko Injury: White Sox First Baseman Cleared To Work Out

The Chicago White Sox have struggled quite a bit lately when it comes to run support, but a key ingredient could be returning soon to help their cause. Paul Konerko has been cleared to begin working out again following his concussion and, while it's unclear when he'll rejoin the roster, this means he's at least one step closer.

Konerko's stint on the seven-day disabled list will end Friday, meaning the clean-up hitter could theoretically return to action when the White Sox face the Kansas City Royals to start the weekend. Chicago manager Robin Ventura told the Chicago Tribune that he's not so sure Konerko's going to be 100 percent by the time the weekend rolls around, however.

"You don't know how quickly (symptoms are) going to subside and he's going to feel better," Ventura said. "It's not like an arm injury; it's more how he feels. You've seen with some guys it's taken a long time to get back. Some it hasn't taken that long. You cross your fingers and hope it's Friday.

It'll likely be a game-day decision unless Konerko feels drastically improved during his workouts early this week.
