Bears Training Camp 2012: Could Chicago Alter Shea McClellin's Role To Get Him More Playing Time?

Stay connected for news and updates

After watching the Chicago Bears' first preseason game, CSN-Chicago's John Mullin wondered if the team might have to get a little creative to get rookie Shea McClellin on the field. Mullin thinks McClellin could become one of the team's best 11 defensive players but might have trouble finding consistent playing time at DE.

What if rookie defensive end Shea McClellin were only the Bears’ fourth-best defensive end but one of their best 11 defensive players? Corey Wootton, who had a strong game Thursday against Denver All-Pro left tackle Ryan Clady, is far and away the best end after Israel Idonije and Julius Peppers. Wootton could be playing his way into the discussion for starting, but that's for another time.
