Summer Olympics 2012 Daily Preview: Men's Gymnastics Team Final Highlights Day

The United States men haven't won team gold in gymnastics since the boycotted 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but they'll enter Monday's medal round having been the top team in qualifying. Whether that will carry over to the medal events remains to be seen, but after witnessing China and Japan struggle in qualifying, the U.S. has to be feeling as confident as can be. The men will go for gold in gymnastics starting at 10 a.m. CT, but it will be broadcast as part of NBC's primetime coverage beginning at 6 p.m.

The other notable gold medal events will happen in the pool. American Ryan Lochte— who was caught from behind in the 4X100 freestyle relay on Sunday night resulting in the U.S. snagging only a silver medal— will look to redeem himself on Monday in the men's 200m Freestyle. On the women's side, American Missy Franklin will be looking for gold in the women's 100m Backstroke, but the heavy favorite is Emily Seebohm of Australia. Swimming events begin at 1:30 p.m. CT, but will also be broadcast as part of NBC's primetime coverage beginning at 6 p.m.

Other medal events include men's synchronized diving, women's fencing, men's and women's judo, and men's and women's weightlifting. The U.S. women's basketball team will also be in action at 4:15 p.m. CT on NBC Sports Network when they take on Angola in their second game of the qualifying round.
