The United States finds itself near the top of the London Olympics medal count after the first two full days of competition; with 11 medals (three gold, five silver, three bronze) to this point, the Americans are just one medal behind first-place China. These two countries were the top two medal winners in the 2008 Beijing Games.
Italy, South Korea and Japan round out the top five. Here is the current top 12:
