Chicago native Bob Willis is representing Team USA in sailing competitions at the 2012 Olympics.

Sailing competition begins at the 2012 Summer Olympics on Saturday, and Chicago native Bob Willis is among those representing Team USA in the events. London will be the first time that Willis has appeared in the Olympics, although he's been part of the U.S. Sailing Team for years.

After going to Francis W. Parker High School in the city, Willis went to school at Connecticut College. He placed third at the Olympic Trials in 2008, but he didn't travel to Beijing with the Olympic team. This summer, he's one of 380 athletes expected to participate in the sailing competitions.

Over the events, which occurs from July 28 to August 11, 63 different nations will be participating. The only countries to qualify in all ten sailing events are the United States, France, New Zealand and Great Britain.
