U.S. Open 2012 Golf Leaderboard: Michael Thompson Holds Lead As 1st Round Winds Down

Stay connected for news and updates

The big-name pairing was a bit of a disappointment during the opening round of the 2012 U.S. Open; while Tiger Woods finished the day one-under and in second place (though his standing is subject to change with players still on the course), Phil Mickelson finished the day at six-over and Bubba Watson finished eight-over.

Michael Thompson leads the field after firing a four-under 66.

Defending champ Rory McIlroy is +4 through 13 holes and playing partner Luke Donald -- a Northwestern alum -- is +7.
