NCAA Lacrosse Tournament 2012, Notre Dame Vs. Loyola (MD): Fighting Irish Lose 7-5

The Notre Dame men's lacrosse team saw its season end on Saturday afternoon with a disappointing 7-5 loss against Loyola (MD) in the national semifinals. The fourth-seeded Irish were hoping to return to the national title game after losing 6-5 to Duke in the 2010 national championship.

Eric Lusby had another huge for Loyola (MD), scoring as many goals by himself as the entire Notre Dame team scored. His five goals led the Greyhounds to an early lead that the Fighting Irish simply couldn't overcome. Midway through the third period, Lusby's final goal gave Loyola (MD) a 7-3 lead, which proved to be enough.

The Irish looked to be making a run in the middle of the fourth period after getting a pair of quick goals, but the Loyola defense managed to tighten up from there. After trimming the lead to 7-5 with about seven minutes remaining, the Irish saw the clock run out on their season when the offense couldn't muster any more scores.
