Northwestern will play Syracuse in the women's lacrosse national title game on Sunday night.
After beating Maryland on Friday night, the Northwestern women's lacrosse team has advanced to this year's national championship once again. The Wildcats will play Syracuse on Sunday night at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, New York.
Last year, the Wildcats knocked off the Terripens to win the national championship, but the two teams met in the semifinals on Friday. Second-seeded Northwestern pulled off the 9-7 victory over fourth-seeded Maryland in that game, returning the defending champions to the title game.
Northwestern is now aiming for its seventh national championship in eight seasons when it faces Syracuse on Sunday. The Orange will be appearing in the title game for the first time after a stunning 14-13 upset of top-seeded Florida in the first round. The Gators actually defeated Northwestern earlier in the season.
