Notre Dame Basketball: Sophomore G Alex Dragicevich To Transfer

The Fighting Irish lose one of the sophomore guards as Chicago native Alex Dragicevich decides to transfer away.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be losing one of their young guards at the end of the school year. Brian Hamilton reports that G Alex Dragicevich plans to leave Notre Dame following the current spring semester.

The split appears to be amicable, according to coach Mike Brey:

"I am sorry to see Alex leave our basketball program, but I fully support his decision to transfer to another school," Irish coach Mike Brey said in statement.

"Alex has been a terrific representative our basketball program and always has conducted himself with a great deal of class. My staff, players and I, in addition to our entire Notre Dame basketball family, wish Alex nothing but the best as he continues his playing career at another institution."

Dragicevich, who hails from Glenbrook North, played sparingly in his freshman campaign with the Irish, but stepped into a prominent reserve role in the 2011-12 season, averaging over 20 minutes on the floor while scoring 6.6 points per game.
