Northwestern was relegated to the NIT on Selection Sunday, but Notre Dame received a bid as the No. 7 seed in the South Region. The Irish will play No. 10 Xavier, with a potential matchup against No. 2 Duke in the next round.
Michigan State is the top seed in the South Region, and other potential road blocks include No. 3 Marquette and No. 4 Louisville. No. 8 Memphis could also prove a dangerous team in the region.
