Notre Dame Vs. Georgetown Final Score: Hoyas Give ND Second Straight Loss

It wasn't long ago that Notre Dame was the hottest team in Division I as winners of nine straight, which included wins over Big East powerhouses Syracuse, UConn, and Marquette. After falling to St. John's on Saturday, Notre Dame's Monday night showdown with No. 10 Georgetown was something of a litmus test heading into the Big East Tournament: we know the Irish are good, but exactly how good? Irish fans didn't get the answer they were hoping for in a 59-41 loss to Georgetown at the Verizon Center tonight.

Georgetown was led by forward Greg Washington, who went 5-of-6 from the field to finish with 15 points. Guard Jason Clark (13 points) and center Henry Sims (12 points) added scoring punch off the bench. The win moves Georgetown to 22-6 overall, 12-5 in the Big East.

Notre Dame shot just 16-of-48 from the field, which included 3-of-16 shooting from three-point range. No Irish scorer reached double-figures; guards Erik Atkins and Scott Martin each had nine points to lead ND.

The loss drops Notre Dame to 20-10 overall, 12-5 in the Big East.
