Illinois State beat Appalachian State in overtime to earn a birth in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.
Illinois State will play No. 2 Eastern Washington this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.
Illinois State is coming off a dramatic 38-37 overtime win over Appalachian State in which they blocked the Mountaineers' extra-point attempt that would have tied the game and sent it to a second overtime period.
Eastern Washington beat Wagner, 29-19, to also earn a birth in the quarterfinals.
The top five seeds are still in contention for the FCS championship this season.
The complete FCS playoff schedule for this weekend is below (all times are eastern):
Friday Dec. 7
No. 3 Montana State vs Sam Houston State at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday Dec. 8
No. 5 Georgia Southern vs No. 4 Old Dominion at 12:00 p.m.
No. 1 North Dakota State vs Wofford at 3:00 p.m.
Illinois State vs No. 2 Eastern Washington at 6:00 p.m.
The FCS National Championship game will be played on Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m.
