Northern Illinois blew out winless UMass on Saturday, 63-0. They now prepare for a crucial West division matchup with Toledo.

The Northern Illinois Huskies trounced UMass on Saturday, 63-0, remaining undefeated in MAC play.

Mike Breese of SB Nation's Northern Illinois blog, Red and Black Attack, summed up the victory by saying, simply, the Huskies took care of business.

Not too much to say about this one other than it was a very good warmup game for Toledo. Welcome to the conference, UMass.

UMass' futility has them winless this season: 0-9, 0-5 in the MAC. Many Northern Illinois starters did not even play Saturday, as the Huskies elected to give playing time to reserve players instead. They still managed the 63-0 shutout.

Quarterback Jordan Lynch passed for 191 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 15 times for 157 yards, adding a touchdown on the ground, as well.

The upcoming contest with Toledo, which Breese referred to, will decide the winner of the West division in the MAC. Northern Illinois is 9-1, 6-0 in conference play, and Toledo is 8-1, 5-0 in conference play. That game takes place Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Huskie Stadium.
