This year's Chicago Marathon will take place on Sunday in what is expected to be a chilly Chicago.

The 2012 Chicago Marathon will take place on Sunday, Oct. 7. The route will take participants from the city's downtown north to Addison St. just blocks from Wrigley Field and back south again towards downtown. From there the runners will head west and then back into the city's south side before they head back north towards downtown and the finish line. In total, the course will cover just over 26 miles.

The race will start at 7:30 a.m. CT and will run until 3:00 p.m. Spectators will be allowed to watch the runners go by at any point along the course, though access to the start and finish lines is expected to be limited. Locally, the race will be broadcast on NBC 5 and will be covered on the radio by 670 the score. Individual runners can be tracked via text message, Twitter and Facebook.

Last year's race was won on the men's side by Kenyan Moses Mosop, who set a course record of 2:05:37. The women's side was won for the third straight year by Liliya Shobukhova.
