The Northern Illinois Huskies haven't lost since opening week, when they fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes by one point. Since then, they've won seven straight games, including last week's 37-7 shellacking of Akron Zips. The Huskies have achieved bowl eligibility and have put themselves in prime position to reach the MAC title game.
They can't afford an slip-ups, though. The Huskies (7-1, 4-0) are tied for first place in the West along with the Toledo Rockets (7-1, 4-0) and can't overlook their next two opponents leading up to their Nov. 14 matchup with the Rockets. Their opponent on Saturday is the Western Michigan Broncos (3-5, 1-3), a team that will enter the game with a two-game losing streak.
The Broncos have run the ball effectively this season, but have favored their passing game. In last week's loss to the Kent State Flashes, Broncos quarterback Tyler Van Tubbergen threw the ball 57 times, but there was a downside: Tubbergen threw three interceptions, two of which came in a fourth quarter.
Game time, TV channel: 11 a.m. CT, ESPN3
Point spread: Northern Illinois favored by 6 points
