Notre Dame managed to make things closer, but they still trail the BYU Cougars, 14-10, heading into the fourth quarter. The No. 5 Irish took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, but entered halftime down 14-7. They put together a seven-play, 65-yard drive that ended in a 24-yard field goal from Kyle Brindza near the end of the third to bring the game to 14-10.
BYU had a chance to increase the lead just before that drive, but Justin Sorensen missed a 46-yard field goal. The stat sheet is pretty even, with Notre Dame's four penalties for 36 yards being the big outlier. Other than that, both teams have been doing well on defense, with nobody truly shining on the offensive side of the ball. It's anybody's game headed into the fourth quarter.
