Bulls guard Nate Robinson shines in preseason victory

Mike DiNovo-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Chicago point guard scored 24 points and dished out 13 assists in the team's 100-94 win over the Bucks.

Chicago Bulls point guard Nate Robinson had been having a tough preseason before Tuesday night's win over the Milwaukee Bucks, in which he put up a double-double. According to Robinson, encouragement from his teammates and children put him in the right frame of mind to have a breakout night.

"I was kind of hard on myself (about) making shots and guys are just like, 'Just play, have fun. It will come back.'" Robinson said Tuesday after scoring 24 points and dishing out 13 assists in a 100-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. "I worked on my jump shot a lot and I was kind of disappointed in myself. But I talked to my kids the other day and they were like, 'It's OK, daddy. We still love you no matter what.' So that kind of helped me out today just having happy thoughts and just going out there playing and having fun and I did that."

Robinson will be crucial to Chicago's success as the team awaits the return of Derrick Rose. He is likely to start the season on the bench behind Kirk Hinrich, but will be looked at to handle much of the scoring off the bench. Chicago's bench has been one of its true strengths in the Tom Thibodeau era, but it will have a new look this season after the departures of Kyle Korver, C.J. Watson and Omer Asik.

In 51 games for the Golden State Warriors last season, Robinson scored 11 points per game, while dishing out 4.5 assists and grabbing two rebounds. He shot 42 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from three-point range while putting up his highest player efficiency rating (18.0) since the 2008-2009 season.
