2012 NCAA Hockey schedule: Notre Dame takes on Maine Friday

Notre Dame opens its season against Maine in the Ice Breaker Tournament Friday.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish open college hockey season against the Maine at 6:05 CT in Kansas City, Mo. The game will be televised on the NBC Sports Network. Army plays Nebraska-Omaha in the other game at 9:05 p.m. and the championship game will be at 6:05 p.m. Saturday.

Notre Dame comes into the season off a 19-18-3 record last season. Maine was 23-14-3. Notre Dame is led by centers T.J. Tynan and Anders Lee, who were both named to the CCHA preseason all-conference team. Lee, a junior and the team captain, led Notre Dame with 17 goals and had 17 assists last season. He was second on the team with 34 points.

Tynan, also a junior, had nine goals and 20 assists last season. Maine is led by Joey Diamond, who had 25 goals and 22 assists last season. Maine lost its season opener 2-1 to Quinnipiac last week.

Maine has won three of four meetings with Notre Dame in their history.
