Bulls Vs. Magic Recap: Bulls Ride Strong Fourth Quarter To 97-83 Victory

Dwight Howard dominated early for the Orlando Magic (5-3), but the totality of the Chicago Bulls (7-1) was too much for the Magic in Chicago's 97-83 victory. The Bulls crushed the Magic in most major categories Friday night, even with Dwight Howard putting up his customary double-double with 28 points and 15 rebounds.

The Bulls outrebounded the Magic 46 to 37, had 27 assists to Orlando's 15, shot 57% from three to Orlando's 35% and only had 12 turnovers compared to the Magic's 17. Individually, the Bulls had two players with double-doubles: Derrick Rose finished with 21 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds and Carlos Boozer put up 20 points and 13 rebounds. Chicago also enjoyed 5-7 shooting from three from Kyle Korver, who finished the night with a +19 plus/minus.

Chicago's road trip will continue Saturday night when they take on the Atlanta Hawks.

Bulls Vs. Magic Score Update: Bulls Hold Lead, Up 73-62 After Third Quarter

The Chicago Bulls stretched their lead to as much as 17 points in the third quarter, but the Orlando Magic fought back, mainly from behind the three point line, to pull Chicago's lead to just above double digits going into the fourth quarter.

The Bulls have gotten a strong game from Luol Deng, who has feasted on the Magic's weak wing players on Friday night. Deng finished the third with 20 points on the game on 8-14 shooting including 2-2 from downtown. Derrick Rose has also had a strong game, with 17 points and seven assists, though only one of those assists came in the third quarter.

For the Magic, a strong quarter from Hedo Turkoglu kept the team afloat. After a quiet first half, Turkoglu finished the quarter with 10 points and three assists.

Bulls Vs. Magic Score Update: Orlando Leads Chicago 27-26 After 1st Quarter

If Derrick Rose's elbow is bothering him on Friday night, he hasn't shown any signs of it in his shooting performance -- he has 12 points on 5-7 shooting so far and is the only Chicago player in double figures. Luol Deng added seven points, and Richard Hamilton -- most likely out tonight -- has not logged a minute to this point.

But Orlando has the edge after one quarter, 27-26, thanks in large part to a 14-point first quarter effort from Dwight Howard, who hit six of his eight field goal attempts and also pulled down five rebounds.

Chicago shot 52.4% compared to Orlando's 44.0% shooting, but the Magic were a little better on the boards and got a couple more points than the Bulls at the free throw line.

Richard Hamilton Injury: Guard Doubtful For Chicago's Game Against Orlando, According To Tom Thibodeau

Richard Hamilton played in Chicago's last game, a 99-83 win at Detroit on Wednesday night; Hamilton scored 14 points on 5-9 shooting in his first trip back to Detroit since leaving the franchise this past off-season. But it looks like the groin injury that has been bothering Hamilton for about a week is going to sideline him again on Friday night -- according to Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, it's doubtful the shooting guard will be able to play against the Orlando Magic.

If Hamilton does sit out, it will be the third game he's missed this season. He also sat out the team's games against Memphis on Jan. 1 and Atlanta on Jan. 3, both of which were won by the Bulls.

Hamilton is averaging 12.4 points per game this season.
