Notre Dame Vs. Connecticut Final Score: Fighting Irish Win 50-48 Upset Over No. 19 Huskies

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish stunned another ranked Big East opponent on Sunday, pulling off a 50-48 upset over the No. 19 Connecticut Huskies on the road. The Irish had to fight off numerous attempts by the Huskies to come back, but they never gave up the lead after beginning the second half on a big run.

After trailing 24-21 going into halftime, the Fighting Irish scored the first 13 points of the second half to take a ten-point lead. The advantage never got any larger than that, but it also never got any smaller than two points. Both teams really struggled to make shots, with Notre Dame shooting 36 percent from the field and Connecticut shooting only slightly better at 41 percent.

Eric Atkins led Notre Dame in scoring with 13 points. Jerian Grant also had an extremely active game, putting up 11 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Every single point scored by the Irish came from one of the five starters. The Huskies were led by Jeremy Lamb with 16 points, while Andre Drummond played well, scoring 15 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking four shots.

The win gives Notre Dame three straight victories, with two of those coming against ranked opponents. Connecticut has now lost three consecutive games and visits D.C. for a match-up against Georgetown in its next game.
