White Sox Try Again For Elusive Third Straight Win, Vs. Angels

The White Sox have won only 12 games this year, and only six of their last 24. Five times they have won two games in a row, including the last two in Seattle. That actually gives them a much better road record (8-11) than home record (5-11).

They'll take that two-game winning streak and try to make it three in a row against the Los Angeles Angels tonight in Anaheim. (Someday, the Angels will be able legally to drop the "of Anaheim" label. Not yet, though.) The Sox have been getting good pitching -- they've now allowed three runs or fewer in six straight games -- but are only 3-3 in those games due to a lack of offense.

The Angels, not expected to contend this year due to injuries and players growing old, are leading the AL West in the early going by two games over the Athletics and Rangers, tied for second place. The Angels have received surprisingly good production out of rookie 1B Mark Trumbo, who leads the team with 17 RBI. Meanwhile, the Sox are still waiting for Adam Dunn's bat to wake up.

Edwin Jackson takes the mound for the Sox tonight against the Angels' Ervin Santana. Television is on CSN Chicago at 9 p.m. CDT.
