The late game on the west coast will feature the much awaited return of starter Jake Peavy. Peavy, who has been rehabbing from shoulder surgery, has not made a start for the White Sox since July of the 2010 season. But even despite his long absence, his return has been pegged by many fans as the point in time when the 2011 White Sox will finally be able to put all the pieces together and make a sustained winning run. Peavy has started three games against the Angels over his career. He's 0-2 with a 5.17 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across those games. Few current Angels have much experience against Peavy, but of those that do, Torii Hunter is 3-for-7 with a double, and Macier Izturis is 1-for-3, also with a double.
Pitching for the Angels will be Tyler Chatwood. Chatwood, a rookie, is currently 2-1 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. He started against the White Sox in April. In that start he pitched seven innings, giving up just one run on five hits and two walks, while striking out three. In that game, Juan Pierre was 2-for-2 against Chatwood, while Carlos Quentin, Alexei Ramirez, and Alex Rios each collected hits.
The weather in Anaheim is forecast to be sunny and clear, with a game time temperature in the mid-60s. First pitch is at 9:05 P.M., CDT, and the game will be televised on WGN.
