2011 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Has The Bears Adding More Defensive Line Help

Todd McShay just released a new Mock Draft at ESPN that is a little bit different than most of the Mocks you'll read. Instead of just baseless opinion, which is what most of the Mocks are these days, McShay brought in two NFL scouts to help him make his selections. I'm not sure how much more accurate it will turn out to be, but it does make me feel a little bit better about it for some reason. Although I can't say I agree with who they have the Bears drafting.

They have them taking Baylor NT Phil Taylor in the first round. Now Taylor is a fast rising prospect who will probably get picked right around where they have the Bears selecting, but I just don't think he is a very good fit for the Bears' defense. Taylor is a mountain of a man that is best suited to play nose tackle in a 3-4 defensive scheme. The Bears don't run that kind of defense and need a tackle who can penetrate into the backfield, while Taylor is more the occupy blockers type. I'm sure they could find a spot for him, but I also think they would be better suited putting a more north-south defensive tackle in that spot.

It doesn't help that they have two pretty good offensive line prospects (Derek Sherrod and Danny Watkins) going the two picks right after the Bears.
