Ohio State Rolls Over UTSA Roadrunners 75-46

Stay connected for news and updates

The Roadrunners could not stop the Ohio State machine  firing on all cylinders, nor could they overcome their defense. The No.1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament cruised over Texas San Antonio by a comfortable score of 75-46.

It was unlikely from the beginning for UTSA to pull the upset over the Buckeyes. A No. 16 seed has never beaten a No.1 seed, and OSU only has two losses all season. Nonetheless, Thad Matta's team did not take the Roadrunners lightly and and rolled up two very efficient offensive halves, and played excellent defense against the normally high scoring UTSA team.

Ohio State had a great day on offense, scoring an efficient 75 points on 51 shots, and had four players in double figures. William Buford led the Buckeyes with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and was followed closely by Jon Diebler, who was 4-8 from three and totaled 14 points.

The brightest spot for UTSA was guard Devin Gibson who had 24 points against the OSU defense, he was the only Roadrunner in double figures.

Ohio State now advances to play Sunday, against the No.8 seed George Mason Patriots
