Matt Forte Injury Update: Forte Has Grade 2 MCL Sprain

Stay connected for news and updates

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported today what most already suspected: Matt Forte has a sprained MCL. An MRI confirmed the injury, which Forte suffered early in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Though the Bears sorely need Forte with starting QB Jay Cutler sidelined with a broken finger, the good news for both the Bears and Forte is that he did not tear any ligaments and did no damage to his ACL.

Though it has yet to be confirmed exactly how long Forte will be out, he may end up missing the rest of the year depending on the pace of his recovery. The Chicago Sun-Times' Sean Jensen confirmed a report by ESPN's Trey Wingo that stated that Forte may miss anywhere from two to six weeks.

Be sure to stay tuned to SB Nation Chicago and Windy City Gridiron, SB Nation's Chicago Bears Blog, for the latest updates on Forte and the Bears.
