Bulls Vs. Clippers Post Game Quotes: Derrick Rose Talks Offense And Chris Paul

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 114-101 on Friday night, and both Chris Paul and Derrick Rose played well under the bright lights. Derrick Rose just happened to play better than Paul. Rose scored 29 points on 8-14 shooting, and added 15 assists and eight rebounds as well. Meanwhile, Paul finished with a respectable15 points on 7-for-14 with 14 assists and four steals, but Rose controlled the action all night long.

After the game he spoke about the offense in general and about his matchup with Paul:

Rose on the Bulls offense:

We're a way, way better offensive team this year knowing guys don't need a pick and roll. Lu (Luol Deng), Rip (Richard Hamilton), Booz (Carlos Boozer). Guys can go out and score the ball. Me attacking opens everything up for everyone else. The first game I was on the perimeter, settling for jump shots. The Golden State game was like that, too. Since then I'm pushing the ball, trying to get to the line. I had to get a rhythm and it's coming back to me.

Rose on his matchup with Chris Paul:

Fun, fun, fun. It's a challenge, especially when you are out there on an island (defensively). The crowd gets into it. That's what you live for. I'm taking the challenge. It's fun. You've got to show no fear.

Quotes via Sam Smith of Bulls.com. Derrick Rose is now a perfect 5-0 in head-to-head matchups against Chris Paul, so it's hardly surprising he finds the opportunity so fun right now.

Bulls Vs. Clippers Recap: Derrick Rose Stars In Chicago Victory

The Chicago Bulls will leave California with a 3-1 record to start their 2011-2012 season. The trip started on Christmas Day with a miracle comeback victory over the Los Angeles Lakers and concluded late Friday night with a 114-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

The story going into the game was the match up between Derrick Rose and Chris Paul, the NBA's two top point guards, and it was one that Rose won rather handedly. The reigning MVP was nearly flawless, scoring 29 points on 8-14 shooting from the field, 3-4 shooting from three and 10-11 shooting from the free throw line. He also added 16 assists and eight rebounds to round out a spectacular night.

Paul wasn't too bad himself, putting up 15 points, 14 assists and four steals, but Rose was the trump card all night, especially late in the game as the Bulls kept the Clippers at arms length thanks to Rose hitting two three pointers and dishing assists on two others.

The Bulls will head back home to host the Memphis Grizzlies on the first day of the new year.

Bulls Vs. Clippers Score Update: Bulls Ahead 83-77 After Third

The Chicago Bulls' vaunted defense hasn't been able to exactly slow up the Los Angeles Clippers' high flying, highlight machine of an offense, but the Bulls have stuffed the statsheet themselves and lead 83-77 after three.

The Clippers have been hampered on the defensive end by the foul trouble of DeAndre Jordan, who has only played 18 minutes through three quarters, picking up four fouls in the process. It's allowed the Bulls offense to run free, including Derrick Rose, who has finished at the rim with ease throughout the game tonight. Rose's 17 points and 12 assists lead the Bulls, but it's Joakim Noah's 15 points (to go along with seven rebounds) that has been a major surprise— and boost— to the Bulls on Friday night.

Bulls Vs. Clippers Score Update: Bulls Lead 57-52 At Half

The Chicago Bulls rode double figure scoring halves from Derrick Rose, Richard Hamilton and Joakim Noah to a 57-52 first half lead over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night at the Staples Center. After racking up highlight drives in the first quarter, Rose was quiet at the rim in the second, but he walked into the locker room with 10 assists to go along with his 11 points.

With Clippers center DeAndre Jordan glued to the bench with three fouls, Noah was able to provide a surprise scoring punch, dropping in 11 points on 3-4 shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds. For the Clippers, Blake Griffin put up 15 points and eight rebounds in the first half, but his partner-in-crime Chris Paul only added seven points.

Bulls Vs. Clippers Score Update: Rose Drives Bulls To 29-28 Lead After One

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose had 11 points, six assists and two rebounds in a scintillating first quarter to power Chicago to a 29-28 first quarter lead over the Los Angeles Clippers. Of those 11 points, seven of them came in a row to cap the quarter with a flurry of highlights.

Rose was helped out by Richard Hamilton, who dropped in eight points in the quarter on 4-6 shooting. But it was Rose who was the story, especially considering how quiet Chris Paul, his All Star counterpart, was in the quarter. Paul had a pedestrian three points, three assists and a steal in the first, but Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Caron Butler picked up the slack for Lob City.
