Blackhawks Vs. Ducks Recap: Hawks Hold Early Lead For Easy Victory

The Blackhawks led the Anaheim Ducks by as much as four goals on Friday night as they finally secured a stress-free victory in the month of December. The Blackhawks (20-8-4) were led by the duo of Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp, as well as back up goalie Ray Emery, who saved 24 of 25 shots en route to being named the game's first star.

Hossa and Sharp, who are now tied with Jonathan Towes for the team lead in points at 34, each tallied a goal and assist on Friday night. Hossa's goal, which was assisted by Sharp (his 17th), was his 14th of the year, and it gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead a minute into the second period. Sharp capped the scoring for Chicago midway through the third period with his 17th goal of the season, which came on Hossa's 20th assist of the season.

The Blackhawks will resume play on Sunday, when they will host the Calgary Flames.

Blackhawks Vs. Ducks Score Update: Chicago Up Three After Two

Well, the Chicago Blackhawks will have a hard time getting this one into overtime. The Hawks, who are looking for their first non-overtime victory since early this month, are up 3-0 on the Anaheim Ducks after the second period, thanks to goals from Marian Hossa and Dave Bolland.

Hossa's goal (his 14th of the season) came a mere 1:05 into the period on an assist from Patrick Sharp (his 17th) and it put Chicago up 2-0. Roughly 16 minutes later, Bolland but his eight of the season into the net on the power play, thanks to assists from Nick Leddy and goalie Ray Emery who tallied his first point of the year. Tonight was Emery's 10th start of the season, and first against the Ducks, the team that he was with last season.
