Northern Illinois Vs. Bowling Green Final Score: Huskies Blow Out Falcons 45-14

The first half of Tuesday night's game between the Northern Illinois Huskies and Bowling Green Falcons was actually competitive, but the Huskies pulled away in the second half to blow up the Falcons 45-14 on the road. The game was still close at halftime, 24-14 after Bowling Green scored a touchdown with 13 seconds left in the second quarter, until the Falcons' offense stagnated.

It was a marquee performance from Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Harnish, who dominated the game both through the air and on the ground before backup Jordan Lynch took the field. In less than a full game, Harnish managed to go 16-for-26 for 294 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air, while carrying the ball 17 times for 151 yards and another touchdown on the ground. He was responsible for 445 yards of offense in all, well more than the entire effort from Bowling Green's squad tonight.

It's been an impressive year from Harnish. The senior quarterback has led the Huskies to a 7-3 record this season, posting some pretty great numbers along the way. His 20-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio is superb, and he's added another 1022 yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground. His QB rating is 21st in the country, and better than more-hyped peers such as Nick Foles, Nathan Scheelhaase, Aaron Murray and Brock Osweiler.

The win puts Northern Illinois at 7-3 on the season with two games to go, and they're currently tied for first in the MAC's West division with a 4-1 conference record. They're tied with Toledo, but hold the tiebreaker after beating the Rockets 63-60 in a wild game last week. Bowling Green moves to 4-6 on the season.

Northern Illinois Vs. Bowling Green Score Update: Huskies Score On 79-Yard Pass, Lead 31-14 After Three Quarters

The scoring in the third quarter of Tuesday's game between the Northern Illinois Huskies and Bowling Green Falcons was limited to just one play, but it was a doozy. The Huskies stretched their lead to 31-14 against the Falcons on a 79-yard pass from quarterback Chandler Harnish to Akeem Daniels on the first play of a drive in the middle of the quarter.

Harnish, currently 15-for-25 for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns passing, has been fantastic for Northern Illinois tonight. His contributions have been huge on the ground, too, as he's ran 16 times for 146 yards, the majority of the team's rushing yards for the night. It's been an impressive performance for the senior quarterback.

Northern Illinois Vs. Bowling Green Score Update: Huskies Lead 24-14 At Halftime

The Northern Illinois Huskies started the second quarter of Tuesday night's game against the Bowling Green Falcons with the ball inside Bowling Green's five, but had to settle for a 23-yard field goal to extend their lead to 17-7. That was the only scoring until the quarter's final five minutes, when both teams traded touchdowns to put Northern Illinois up 24-14 going into halftime.

Following Huskies kicker Mathew Sims' field goal, the teams traded failed possessions until Northern Illinois took the ball 70 yards for a touchdown with less than two minutes left in the quarter. Aheem Daniels ran in the touchdown from two yards out, giving him two yards on two carries for the game but one of the team's three scores.

Bowling Green quickly retaliated with a score of their own, though, moving 64 yards in just over a minute to keep the game within ten points going into the second half. Falcons quarterback led the way by throwing for all 64 yards on the drive, including a 22-yard pass to Kamar Jorden on 4th-and-10 at Northern Illinois' 35-yard line and a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jordan on the following play.

Northern Illinois Vs. Bowling Green Score Update: Huskies Up 14-7 After 1st Quarter

Bowling Green struck first tonight--in fact, they struck on the game's first play from scrimmage when quarterback Matt Schilz hit Kamar Jorden for an 83-yard touchdown. From there, though, it's been all Northern Illinois.

The Huskies needed just two plays to answer BGSU and tie the score at seven; a 56-yard touchdown pass from Chandler Harnish to Willie Clark erased the deficit. From there, the game settled down a bit, and NIU's second score came on a methodical 13-play, 63 yard drive. The Huskies racked up over 130 total yards on those two scoring drives alone and have yet to punt the football. Considering how the defense played on that first drive and in last week's 63-60 triumph, they may need to keep those points coming.
