Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Marlon Byrd singled home the winning run in the 13th inning, as the Cubs clipped Seattle, 3-2, to end the resurgent Mariners' winning streak and avoid a three-game sweep.

Chad Tracy and Mike Fontenot also got runs home for Chicago, which had lost four of five coming in. John Grabow (1-3) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to get the win, while Tom Gorzelanny earned his first career save.

Ted Lilly bounced back from a poor showing his last time out to hold Seattle to five hits and a run in six innings. He struck out six and walked no one after surrendering a season-high eight runs in a 12-0 loss to the Angels on Saturday.

Felix Hernandez again was dominant for the M's, going nine innings and allowing two runs on five hits. The right-hander fanned eight, walked one and has surrendered two runs or fewer in five of the last six outings.

Garrett Olson (0-2) took the loss.
