The Illini Are "Leaders" And The Wildcats Are "Legends"

Stay connected for news and updates

Today the Big Ten conference revealed both its new logo design and the names of the divisions that the conference will split into once Nebraska joins next year.

The first division, including Indiana, Illinois, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin will officially be named the “Leaders” division.

The second division, including Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Northwestern is now going to be known as the “Legends” division.

Also revealed today was the new Big Ten logo. I’m not too huge a fan of the new logo, but I don’t really mind the division names. Beyond directional indicators (which wouldn’t really fit given the way the conference was divided up) it’s hard to come up with division names that don’t sound at least a little bit wacky. Given time, I’m sure it will come naturally… What do you think?
